About Jenny Lumley and My Mission
Professional, Educational Background:
I hold a Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with License Behavior Analyst (LBA) in the State of Michigan. I have spent the past 16 years working in the behavioral health field, with more than 12 years experience supporting children, teenagers, adults, and families who have loved ones with autism.
Throughout my work, I’ve aided individuals in developing practical everyday skills, communicating their needs more effectively, replacing behaviors, building independence, and finding meaningful ways to participate in their community.
I helped develop and grow one of Michigan’s Community Mental Health autism center. I have also had the opportunity to mentor and train individuals pursuing their BCBA and RBT certification, supporting them as they develop their clinical knowledge, practical skills, and confidence in applying behavior-analytic principles.
My professional training provides an important foundation for my work, but the individuals and families I’ve had the privilege of working alongside have shaped my perspective just as much.
My Approach is also Personal:
Growing up with my own learning disabilities gave me an early understanding that people learn and experience the world in different ways. Growing up alongside family members with different abilities and needs has also shaped how I view support—not just from a professional perspective, but from the perspective of being part of a family navigating its own unique experiences.
These experiences have shaped me to meet people where they are, listen without judgment, and recognize that there is rarely a single approach that works for every child or family.
A Mindful Values-Based Approach:
Alongside my background in behavior analysis, I am a certified yoga teacher and in mindfulness. I incorporate mindfulness and values-based techniques into my work with families as another way to support awareness, connection, and intentional responding.
My approach means looking beyond simply changing a behavior. It means taking a moment to understand what may be happening, becoming more aware of how we respond during challenging moments, and exploring approaches that align with what matters most to you and your family.
Mission:
Parent coaching is not about being a perfect parent or having all the answers. It’s about having a supportive space to pause, understand, learn, reflect, and try something different. Sometimes meaningful change begins with simply noticing what is happening and becoming curious about what might be possible. You know your family and child best. My role is to listen, offer guidance, and work alongside you.
My goal is simple - help families better understand behavior, teaching their child meaningful skills, and find practical ways forward that honors their values, builds on their strengths, and offers practical strategies that can make meaningful change in their child’s everyday life.
Parents are at the heart of meaningful change within their families.
